Operations supports setup to cleanup and everything in between to ensure the tournament runs smoothly. Below are the key tasks for Operations:
Bracket briefings
Assign courts and referees for games
Enter scores
Announce playoff teams
Present medals
Steps to assign courts and referees.
One clipboard for each of the 12 courts
A clipboard on the table without a scoresheet indicates an open court
Check bin for new game score sheets pending court and referee (if applicable) assignments
Follow steps below to assign court and referee
When the court assignment is saved, this triggers text messages to players for that game.
Use red sharpie and write court number on the scoresheet
Circle referee if applicable
Put scoresheet on clipboard
Hand clipboard to a Referee (if applicable) or Runner
If Runners are not available, use walkie talkie to alert Runners to pick up clipboard.
Referee Assignment
We do not guarantee referees for any game.
Only assign a referee if you see them and ready to be assigned.
Referees will let Operations know if they are on break.
If referees are available, prioritize referee assginment to playoff games over round robin games.
When a bracket is close to starting playoff, “save” the referees for playoff games.
Enter Scores
Follow stepsbelow to enter scores.
When the scores are entered and saved, this triggers new score sheets to be printed (if applicable)
New scoreesheets are printed only if there are teams (not courts) available to be assigned.
Please notify Rosina or Amy if scoresheets are not printed for a bracket for some time.
Put a line cross the scoresheet after scores are entered, then put scoresheet in the bin for completed scoresheets.

Spectators may not coach, except during time outs.
Keep courts filled. Make sure runners are running scoresheets in.
If a court remains empty for more than 5 minutes, notify Operations desk with walkie talkie.

Student Runners
Be familiar with the Bracket Process and Player Instructions.
Note: If a referee is assigned to a court, the referee will manage all tasks for that court instead of Student Runner.
1 Runner is responsible for 3 courts. A 2nd Runner is responsible for the other 3 courts. A 3rd Runner fills in if either of the first two Runners are waiting at the Operations Desk.
Deliver clipboard with scoresheet between court and Operations Desk.
When all 4 players arrive at court, confirm players are on the correct court by confirming their names match the scoresheet.
Start timer for warm up.
5 minutes – before first game of the day only
3 minutes – before all other games (if needed)
After game, players will complete the scoresheet.
Runner will immediately go to their court and confirm the winner “Smith won, 15-7.”
If players agree, then the Runner circles the winners’ names and writes “Winner” next to their names.
Quickly deliver the score sheet to the Operation’s Desk. Don’t cross an active court.
Wait at the Operations Desk for a new score sheet on your clipboard.
